THE TIGER SIGN IN 2026 – Feel right at home

Tiger Years: 1926, 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010, 2022, 2034

Those born in the Year of the Tiger are going to feel at home in 2026.  In a sense, Tiger natives will be “in their element”,  not in the sense that the Tiger and the Horse belong to the same ‘element’, among the five ‘elements’ of the Chinese tradition, namely Wood (mu 木), Fire (huo 火), Earth (tu 土), Metal (jin 金) and Water (shui 水), in these cases, the dominant element of the Horse sign is Fire, whereas the dominant element of the Tiger is Wood. However, there is a special reason for the Tiger natives to feel that 2026 will work for them.

What is involved here is a special connection between the Tiger, Horse and Dog signs. They are respectively the third, seventh and eleventh signs of the Chinese zodiac. As such, these three signs form an equilateral triangle through which the same energy circulates, in this case Fire (huo 火). According to the majority of almanacs, this benefits those born in the years of the Tiger and the Dog, since both have an affinity with the sign of the year, the Horse.

This is why many almanacs predict a year of opportunities for those born in the Year of the Tiger. This may mean concrete opportunities, or an environment in which efforts are more easily rewarded and where there will be greater visibility, that is, it will be easier for them to shine and to see their merits recognised.

Naturally, there are small differences (simple nuances) between what the various almanacs say, although the overall tone remains clearly positive. One of the almanacs stresses that the recommended strategy for those born under the Tiger is to rely primarily on themselves, without depending too much on the help of others. At the same time, they can expect steady progress proportional to the efforts undertaken.

A recommendation shared by some almanacs is that those born under the Tiger should avoid being carried away by the enthusiasm of success, as this would make them more vulnerable to possible moves by adversaries or enemies. In other words, a certain degree of low profile is always advisable.

What I have written above derives from the general tone of the majority of almanacs. There are one or two exceptions, from masters who give priority to the presence of so-called ‘auspicious’ or ‘inauspicious’ stars, which are not stars in the astronomical sense of the term, but merely symbolic factors. On the basis of this reading, those almanacs draw a relatively poor picture for those born under the Tiger, who are said to have no (or only one) positive star, while several negative stars are present in their destiny throughout 2026.

This view is debatable from the standpoint of the Chinese Bazi tradition, since the sanhe (三合) configuration, which expresses the affinity between the Tiger and the Horse mentioned above, cannot be ignored and effectively sets the tone for the year.

A final remark, related to the symbolism of the Tiger sign: as I wrote in the 2000s, on the basis of various Chinese sources, “those born in the Year of the Tiger are, by nature, felines”. That is to say, they are “courageous and combative” and possess “an uncommon level of energy and enthusiasm”.
